“I would have come for you. And if I couldn’t walk, I’d crawl to you, and no matter how broken we were, we’d fight our way out together-knives drawn, pistols blazing. Because that’s what we do. We never stop fighting.”

I have been anticipating this book months before its release and as soon as it came out, I read it. To be honest, I had no doubt in my mind that this book was going to be amazing after what happened at the end of book one.

Before diving into this book, I didn’t know if it was possible that it would be better than the first book, but I fell in love all over again with the characters. I just admire their courage and what they would do for each other. It is just amazing knowing someone would literally die for you. It is just fantastic.

I don’t really want to say anything else because it will spoil people so if you haven’t read the book, do not read further.

HELLO

“Have any of you wondered what I did with all the cash Pekka Rollins gave us?”
“Guns?” asked Jesper.
“Ships?” queried Inej.
“Bombs?” suggested Wylan.
“Political bribes?” offered Nina. They all looked at Matthias. “This is where you tell us how awful we are,” she whispered.”

It is no mystery by now that I absolutely live for those characters and this plot. I was scared that we wouldn’t see Inej until the end of the book, but that wasn’t the case. I was so pleasantly surprised when Inej was returned to her crew and they planned what they were going to do. It was painful getting through her chapters at the beginning though. Seeing all she had to go through and the fact that she thought Kaz and the others weren’t going to rescue her, just broke my heart, but I was so happy to see that at the end, Kaz opened up a little and he and Inej would maybe end up together.

On a positive note, Wylan and Jesper are now officially a thing. I remember shipping since the beginning. I mean, all the flirting and there was chemistry ever since the beginning. My heart was overwhelmed when I learned that they were going to stay together at the end. In this book, we learn the backstory of Wylan and it just makes me love him even more. I just love how Leigh Bardugo writes her characters, they all have a back story and those stories make you feel even more connected with the characters.

Also, let’s not talk about Matthias because I don’t think I’ll ever be over it. Nina is probably one of the best characters I ever read. She has been through so much but her personality is still joyful and cheery and I just love her for it. It shows that no matter what happened, you can still be happy and that it is just so inspiring.

There is so much more but I won’t write a too long post for this book (mostly because I don’t know how to do this book justice).

this-or-that-atag

God, it’s been a long time (around three months) since I’ve last posted something. The reason is because I was in this huge reading slump and didn’t want to post or write anything. I’m still having trouble reading but it’s getting better so hopefully, it will pass. To motivate myself I decided to do a tag. Hope you guys like it. So I was tagged by TheBookMermaidBlog and you guys should check hers out. Here are the rules:

Reading on the couch or on the bed?

I mostly read on my bed…actually, I almost do everything on my bed, homework, research…

Male main character or female main character?

I really don’t mind as long as I love them and as long as they are not annoying, but I’ll go with male main character since most books I read is from a female’s. It’s always nice to see what’s happening in the head of someone from the other gender.

Sweet snacks or salty snacks?

Salty snacks.

Trilogies or Quartets?

I think I’ll choose quartets for this one. The bigger, the better.

First Person POV or Third Person?

Third Person POV (especially if it’s in multiple POVs).

Reading at night or in the morning?

I always read at night since I’m not really a morning person.

Libraries or Bookstores?

Bookstores. I just love buying books.

Books that make you laugh or books that make you cry?

Umm…both? I just love books that make you feel something, wherever it’s tears or make you laugh.

Black Book Covers or White Book Covers?

Black covers

Character Driven or Plot Driven?

Character!! Always the characters.

Title: Champion

Series: Legend

Author: Marie Lu

Published: 5th November

Publisher: Putnam Juvenile

Rating: 5/5 stars

It has been a while since I posted and I apologize. I didn’t really have time to do anything really. In the last week, I only managed to read one book (Champion) and guess what? I’m behind my goodreads goal but that’s okay. I’ll try to catch up after, especially on Christmas break. So yes, I finished the Legend trilogy!!! I’ll be reviewing it and discussing it after. Do not read this review if you have not read the previous books.

and i'm yours

He is a Legend.

She is a Prodigy.

Who will be Champion?

June and Day have sacrificed so much for the people of the Republic—and each other—and now their country is on the brink of a new existence. June is back in the good graces of the Republic, working within the government’s elite circles as Princeps-Elect, while Day has been assigned a high-level military position.

But neither could have predicted the circumstances that will reunite them: just when a peace treaty is imminent, a plague outbreak causes panic in the Colonies, and war threatens the Republic’s border cities. This new strain of plague is deadlier than ever, and June is the only one who knows the key to her country’s defense. But saving the lives of thousands will mean asking the one she loves to give up everything.

With heart-pounding action and suspense, Marie Lu’s bestselling trilogy draws to a stunning conclusion.

Honestly, I think that I liked Prodigy more than Champion. Just because in this one, there was a lot of June and Day moments (not as much as in Prodigy). And as you all know, I’m a romantic junkie and they are one of my favorite OTPs. But overall, I really loved it.

Like always, Marie Lu’s writing was stunning and she always manages to make me see the whole scene inside my head. I forget that there are words and just dive into the story. Only a few writers can do that but Marie Lu is definitely one of them. Her writing is so easy to get into and so familiar. She also knows how to keep a reader hooked until the very last page. Her story is astonishing in every way; the characters (one would think that they are actually real), her plot (it was so action-packed that I had to pause at certain times, in a good way) and this series has been more than I ever expected it to be.

To be honest, I wasn’t the biggest fan of June in the first book but as the story went, I fell in love with her and Day. I don’t think I’ll ever forget them because they are a part of me now that I’ll never be able to recover from.

If you haven’t read Champion yet, I really recommend it to you because it’s an amazing finale.

What do you think about this book? Please leave a spoiler alert for the people who haven’t read the book yet.

HELLO

So this spoiler section is more of my feelings about the ending and I won’t go into too much details about the other aspects of the book because it’s been quite a while that I read it and I forgot to take notes while reading it.

So, the ending…

First of all, I am really happy that Day and June didn’t die. Thank the gods for that. But, the ending still hurt. I can’t believe that Day forgot June. It wasn’t the most unpredictable thing that could have happened, but I honestly didn’t see it coming. I think that I was so concentrated on the fact that Day might die that I didn’t see the possibility that this would happen. Anyways, it’s not the most uncommon thing to happen in Ya books but this particular one hurt the most because it was the end of the book. Everything was going great and they just succeeded to not go to war and you think “awn this is going to be a happy ending”, but then Day loses his memory….

What do you think about the ending?

Hi There!

Do you agree that because you read a lot, that means you have no life?| Discussion

book-discussion

Where did idea came from??

I have been toying with this idea for a long time. Lot of non-readers think that because you read, it means you have no life…? Well, do they mean that they don’t the time to read because they prefer doing other things that are considered as having-a-life?

What do I think??

Well, like the saying goes: a person who reads lived a hundred lives whereas a someone who doesn’t has only one. Honestly I love reading (duh) and I don’t think that I’m “wasting” my life or time doing the thing that I love. Others might want to do other things than reading but I don’t.

And yes, maybe we are not the kids that always go to parties and everything but that’s because we prefer diving in the story and probably living something far better through a book. I really don’t understand why people say that you have no life if you read… They don’t realize that for me, it’s the kind of life I want to live in.

I know this was a short discussion, but right now I’m really busy with school and all. I want to also apologize that I’m not posting regularly anymore. Hopefully, next week I could start again🙂

Daily Quote| Gathering Darkness

Hello guys. So apologies are in order…if you haven’t noticed, I haven’s posted anything for almost two months. First of all, I don’t have any excuse because even though I was really busy with school, it has never stopped me before to post anything. I want to start posting more regularly and I’ll try my best to so that. For now, here are some quotes: (and have a nice day)

“In the shadow my father has cast over my entire life, you are the only light I can see anymore. And, whatever the cost, I refuse to let that light be extinguished”
Morgan Rhodes (Gathering Darkness (Falling Kingdoms, #3))

“Magnus had come to a horrible realization. One that he knew would cause him nothing but pain and suffering from that day forward.
But there was no changing the truth of it.
He had fallen in love with her.”
Morgan Rhodes (Gathering Darkness (Falling Kingdoms, #3))

My favorite covers!

happy

Today, I’m going to talk about my favorite covers!

I am not judging those books by their content but by their covers so it might be a super boring book but they will make the list.

So shall we begin?

1. A thousand nights

Image result for a thousand nights

Honestly, this book wasn’t really for me but its cover is so gorgeous. The cover just gives the book some mystery and basically, it is so gorgeous.

2. Magonia

Image result for magonia

I actually DNF Magonia at around a 130 pages so I didn’t like it. I think that the biggest issue I had is the main character. I just could’t get into it because I couldn’t relate to the character at all.

3. Vault of dreams

Image result for vault of dreams luke taylor

I mean, look at his cover. Doesn’t it just say “Read me”! This book is amazing and you guys should read it!!!

4. Cruel Beauty

Image result for cruel beauty

I read Cruel beauty last month and it wasn’t really what I expected it to be, but it was still really nice to read and I surprisingly really liked it. And also look at this cover, isn’t it gorgeous?

5. Six of crows

Image result for six of crows

Six of crows is not only one of my favorite series of all time, but the covers are so beautiful that it just takes my breathe away. I haven’t read the sequel yet but I am going to…soon.

What are your favorite covers?

I first picked up this book because a lot of people were telling me how awesome it is and also that if I loved Red Queen (by Victoria Aveyard), I would love this book.

Still, even that I wasn’t entirely convinced to read it but then I bought it at a low price and I was like “Why not?”. And let me tell you, I love it so much!!! It is one of my favorite book of all times.

“I live for the dream that my children will be born free,” she says. “That they will be what they like. That they will own the land their father gave them.”

“I live for you,” I say sadly.

Eo kisses my cheek. “Then you must live for more.”

Darrow is a Red, a member of the lowest caste in the color-coded society of the future. Like his fellow Reds, he works all day, believing that he and his people are making the surface of Mars livable for future generations.

Yet he spends his life willingly, knowing that his blood and sweat will one day result in a better world for his children.

But Darrow and his kind have been betrayed. Soon he discovers that humanity already reached the surface generations ago. Vast cities and sprawling parks spread across the planet. Darrow—and Reds like him—are nothing more than slaves to a decadent ruling class.

Inspired by a longing for justice, and driven by the memory of lost love, Darrow sacrifices everything to infiltrate the legendary Institute, a proving ground for the dominant Gold caste, where the next generation of humanity’s overlords struggle for power. He will be forced to compete for his life and the very future of civilization against the best and most brutal of Society’s ruling class. There, he will stop at nothing to bring down his enemies… even if it means he has to become one of them to do so.

Starting this book, I didn’t have any expectations whatsoever and I didn’t even read the synopsis so basically, I went into it without knowing anything. And I was so pleasantly surprised.

To be honest, at first I didn’t love it immediately. I have to admit that the first few chapters are hard to go through. I know a lot of people who DNF it because of the start. But you have to continue reading!! The start is quite complicated to understand because there is so much world building that makes your head spin and also the language is quite complex. So I definitely do not recommend reading it if you’re new to the YA world, but you should read it later when you’re more experienced because it’s amazing. And for advanced readers who wants to read this book: Read it until the end because trust me, you won’t regret it. So be patient

The world in this book is a mystery at the beginning but if you keep reading, you learn so much more about it and it is just mind-blowing!!!

Now let’s talk about the writing. Like I said before, it is quite complex and kept slowing me down, but I kept going and eventually, I got used to it. I’m not saying I perfectly understand everything without any troubles though. I just have to give my full concentration to the book because or else, I will miss some parts out. I would have liked to have a glossary though. It would be so much easier.

I’m not going to say much about the world because you will discover it as the story goes and I don’t want to spoil anything.

But even with the complex writing, I absolutely loved it!! It is so action-packed and it doesn’t sugar-coat anything. It is true and raw. Sometimes the descriptions are so brutal and you can’t help but wince. It is one of the few books that made me want to keep reading until I finish it without doing anything else.

I don’t know what else to add without spoiling anyone so here comes the spoiler section

HELLO

Where to start?? Honestly, I cried when Eo died and I was really surprised to do so because I’m emotional but not when I am at the very beginning of a book. I have to know the characters first. So it was a little weird to see tears this early in the story. I was not even THAT attached to Eo. But seeing her getting ripped away from Darrow because of a song was just so emotional that I couldn’t let the tears in. This moment is so powerful and emotional that you can’t help but wish that she was still here.

The whole transformation of Day was just epic! It must have hurt a lot but the descriptions were so raw, it made me so excited for the rest. The world just expanded and it was just mind blowing. Like I said, the descriptions were amazing. How the author described the action scenes. I was so pumped by it.

The game!! This book has one of the sickest game ever. I’m not even kidding. I was so into the story. If you didn’t know, I love capture the flag and having it this version, it was amazing (though I would probably end up dying). Mixing my favorite outdoor game and a survival game is the best!!

Honestly, the characters weren’t the thing that interested me the most. I didn’t love Darrow or any other characters except Sevro, but I liked them; just didn’t love them. I didn’t feel a deep connection with any of them but I hope that in the future it will be the case.

Overall, I’m really excited for the next book!!! And I definitely recommend this amazing book! Give it some time and you’ll see just how awesome it is.
