My favorite covers!

happy

Today, I’m going to talk about my favorite covers!

I am not judging those books by their content but by their covers so it might be a super boring book but they will make the list.

So shall we begin?

1. A thousand nights

Image result for a thousand nights

Honestly, this book wasn’t really for me but its cover is so gorgeous. The cover just gives the book some mystery and basically, it is so gorgeous.

2. Magonia

Image result for magonia

I actually DNF Magonia at around a 130 pages so I didn’t like it. I think that the biggest issue I had is the main character. I just could’t get into it because I couldn’t relate to the character at all.

3. Vault of dreams

Image result for vault of dreams luke taylor

I mean, look at his cover. Doesn’t it just say “Read me”! This book is amazing and you guys should read it!!!

4. Cruel Beauty

Image result for cruel beauty

I read Cruel beauty last month and it wasn’t really what I expected it to be, but it was still really nice to read and I surprisingly really liked it. And also look at this cover, isn’t it gorgeous?

5. Six of crows

Image result for six of crows

Six of crows is not only one of my favorite series of all time, but the covers are so beautiful that it just takes my breathe away. I haven’t read the sequel yet but I am going to…soon.

What are your favorite covers?

I first picked up this book because a lot of people were telling me how awesome it is and also that if I loved Red Queen (by Victoria Aveyard), I would love this book.

Still, even that I wasn’t entirely convinced to read it but then I bought it at a low price and I was like “Why not?”. And let me tell you, I love it so much!!! It is one of my favorite book of all times.

“I live for the dream that my children will be born free,” she says. “That they will be what they like. That they will own the land their father gave them.”

“I live for you,” I say sadly.

Eo kisses my cheek. “Then you must live for more.”

Darrow is a Red, a member of the lowest caste in the color-coded society of the future. Like his fellow Reds, he works all day, believing that he and his people are making the surface of Mars livable for future generations.

Yet he spends his life willingly, knowing that his blood and sweat will one day result in a better world for his children.

But Darrow and his kind have been betrayed. Soon he discovers that humanity already reached the surface generations ago. Vast cities and sprawling parks spread across the planet. Darrow—and Reds like him—are nothing more than slaves to a decadent ruling class.

Inspired by a longing for justice, and driven by the memory of lost love, Darrow sacrifices everything to infiltrate the legendary Institute, a proving ground for the dominant Gold caste, where the next generation of humanity’s overlords struggle for power. He will be forced to compete for his life and the very future of civilization against the best and most brutal of Society’s ruling class. There, he will stop at nothing to bring down his enemies… even if it means he has to become one of them to do so.

Starting this book, I didn’t have any expectations whatsoever and I didn’t even read the synopsis so basically, I went into it without knowing anything. And I was so pleasantly surprised.

To be honest, at first I didn’t love it immediately. I have to admit that the first few chapters are hard to go through. I know a lot of people who DNF it because of the start. But you have to continue reading!! The start is quite complicated to understand because there is so much world building that makes your head spin and also the language is quite complex. So I definitely do not recommend reading it if you’re new to the YA world, but you should read it later when you’re more experienced because it’s amazing. And for advanced readers who wants to read this book: Read it until the end because trust me, you won’t regret it. So be patient

The world in this book is a mystery at the beginning but if you keep reading, you learn so much more about it and it is just mind-blowing!!!

Now let’s talk about the writing. Like I said before, it is quite complex and kept slowing me down, but I kept going and eventually, I got used to it. I’m not saying I perfectly understand everything without any troubles though. I just have to give my full concentration to the book because or else, I will miss some parts out. I would have liked to have a glossary though. It would be so much easier.

I’m not going to say much about the world because you will discover it as the story goes and I don’t want to spoil anything.

But even with the complex writing, I absolutely loved it!! It is so action-packed and it doesn’t sugar-coat anything. It is true and raw. Sometimes the descriptions are so brutal and you can’t help but wince. It is one of the few books that made me want to keep reading until I finish it without doing anything else.

I don’t know what else to add without spoiling anyone so here comes the spoiler section

HELLO

Where to start?? Honestly, I cried when Eo died and I was really surprised to do so because I’m emotional but not when I am at the very beginning of a book. I have to know the characters first. So it was a little weird to see tears this early in the story. I was not even THAT attached to Eo. But seeing her getting ripped away from Darrow because of a song was just so emotional that I couldn’t let the tears in. This moment is so powerful and emotional that you can’t help but wish that she was still here.

The whole transformation of Day was just epic! It must have hurt a lot but the descriptions were so raw, it made me so excited for the rest. The world just expanded and it was just mind blowing. Like I said, the descriptions were amazing. How the author described the action scenes. I was so pumped by it.

The game!! This book has one of the sickest game ever. I’m not even kidding. I was so into the story. If you didn’t know, I love capture the flag and having it this version, it was amazing (though I would probably end up dying). Mixing my favorite outdoor game and a survival game is the best!!

Honestly, the characters weren’t the thing that interested me the most. I didn’t love Darrow or any other characters except Sevro, but I liked them; just didn’t love them. I didn’t feel a deep connection with any of them but I hope that in the future it will be the case.

Overall, I’m really excited for the next book!!! And I definitely recommend this amazing book! Give it some time and you’ll see just how awesome it is.

Daily quote| Champion by Marie Lu

This book is so amazing so far. I’m like at page 130 and I’m so scared to finish it!!! Have you guys read it? Also, I’m really sorry for not posting lately. I was trying to but I have so many projects that I couldn’t. I’m really sorry…hopefully at the end of this month, I’ll finish them all and get back to blogging regularly.

Sometimes, the sun sets earlier. Days don’t last forever, you know. But I’ll fight as hard as I can. I can promise you that.

Currently reading

I’m going to be telling you guys about my thoughts on my current reads!! So basically, I’m reading two books.

Actually, I’m not really reading two books because I kind of stopped reading one, but it is not DNF. I’m going to finish it after I finish the other book. It’s not that it’s bad, but the other one is just……mind blowing and it needs my full attention.

What are those book?

EMPIRE OF STORMS BY SARAH J. MAAS!!!!!

I just got my copy last Friday and ever since that, I have been reading this book!!! I’m like at page 540 so I only have around 150 page to go. BUT GUYS!!! I really don’t want to finish because then, I’ll have to wait but I NEED to finish!! The eternal struggle. Seriously, I have no idea how I’m going to review this masterpiece.

There are so many times when I have to close the book and wait a little bit before continuing. This book is going to be the death of me.

The darkest minds by Alexandra Bracken

Yeah so this is the book I’m putting on hold. Like I said, this book is amazing, but I just wanted to put all my concentration on Empire of Storms since it’s a pretty intense book. But so far, I’m really liking it and I will definitely read the entire series.

What are you reading? Did you already read those two books? Tell me your thoughts in the comment below.

Scarlet is the second book of the Lunar chronicles series written by Marissa Meyer. Cinder, the first book in the series is about Cinder (obviously) and the second book is about another person, Scarlet that is eventually going to meet Cinder after.

Cinder, the cyborg mechanic, returns in the second thrilling installment of the bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She’s trying to break out of prison—even though if she succeeds, she’ll be the Commonwealth’s most wanted fugitive.

Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit’s grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn’t know about her grandmother or the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother’s whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana, who will do anything for the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband, her king, her prisoner.

Rating: ♛♛♛♛
Honestly, I found that this was one of the rare times where the sequel is better than the first book. I found Scarlet way better than Cinder. If you have read my other review then, you know that I didn’t understand why there was so much hype surrounding this book. It wasn’t that it was boring, but I just didn’t understand the hype. I still have a little trouble getting all the hype, but I’m getting there. I might love Cress, but I haven’t read it yet. I am definitely going to finish the series. Hopefully before next year.
I thought it was nice to see Cinder’s story through another perspective. I mean, what other people thought about what happened to her at the ball. Although we get some glimpses at her perspective and sometimes Kai’s too.
Let’s talk about the characters. Honestly, I thought that the characters were becoming even more interesting than in the first book. I want to see more characters’ growth but it is a start. Cinder for example, since the ball she is not the same person and you can clearly see it in the second book. There is a change and I learnt to love her through this sequel. Not that I hated her before, but I wasn’t a fan. There are also some new characters coming up in this book.
HELLO
First of all, let’s talk about Kai! Why, oh why?! Did Mrs. Meyer really have to do this to him? Poor him. During all of his chapters, I was like “My poor baby. Everything is gong to be okay”. No but seriously, I really felt bad for the guy. After Cinder, he doesn’t know who to trust and his empire is falling apart and the only way to save it is to marry the evil queen. Sounds like a tragedy to me. I just want him and Cinder reunited in the next book. And at first, he won’t know if he should trust her but eventually, he will see that he loves Cinder and all. *sigh*
Also, I really like how every book in this series is from a different perspective. The first book was from Cinder’s and now we can see the story from someone else’s point of view, which is good since we could see what other people thought about the whole Cinder situation (well, not very good for Cinder).
To be honest, I’m not really into the ships in this book. I love the characters individually, but I’m not sure that I really ship those characters together. Either Cinder and Kai or Wolf and Scarlet. I have to say that I’m not really a fan of Marissa Meyer’s romance. Maybe later…
I will be reading the next book (hopefully soon) and I’ll let you guys know what I think about it 🙂

Three Review| A little book for the little

Three

So this is going to be a very interesting review! “Three” is a little kids book that I decided to review. I received it from Ebooks for review. You can go visit the site and look for yourself. It is very interesting. Basically, there is a bunch of ebooks that you can ask for review. You can check it out and maybe sometimes, you’ll see some books that you really want to read.

and i'm yours

“Three!” is a funny little rhyming book about what it’s like to spend a day with a preschooler – from getting themselves dressed to making a big mess! With beautiful illustrations (complete with dinosaurs, trains and superheros) and a catchy story that both parents and kids can enjoy again and again, this is a must-have book for your children’s book collection.

and i'm yours (1)

Rating: 5 stars (in the children rating world)

You might ask, why did I choose this book for review? Well, why not? But to be honest, I wanted to look at the illustrations more than reading the book. I mean, it can be read in 1 minute or maybe less. I have no idea why but every time someone tells me to read a children’s book (really children, not like Narnia or Percy Jackson which are middle grade), I will read it. It’s just some random fact about me and I have no idea why I do it.

I gave it a 5 stars, but it isn’t like a “5-star-oh-my-god-my-favorite-book”. No! I gave it a 5 stars in the rating world of children (because it is a child’s book). But honestly, it was so cool. I don’t know why but writing that makes me think it’s so cheesy. Like for example a kid saying “It’s so cool”. Anyways, let’s get back into the review.

Personally, I thought the illustrations were amazing. It was so adorable and cute. Everything was colorful and it was a delight to see the next page. I mean, come on it’s about a three year old boy talking about waking up, taking breakfast, basically whatever he’s doing during a day. How can you not think it’s cute. I couldn’t stop smiling while reading it.

Also, I have been reading lots of heavy books lately so it was refreshing to read this tiny little book for a change.

Overall, it’s fun to read and beautifully done!
