Where did idea came from??
I have been toying with this idea for a long time. Lot of non-readers think that because you read, it means you have no life…? Well, do they mean that they don’t the time to read because they prefer doing other things that are considered as having-a-life?
What do I think??
Well, like the saying goes: a person who reads lived a hundred lives whereas a someone who doesn’t has only one. Honestly I love reading (duh) and I don’t think that I’m “wasting” my life or time doing the thing that I love. Others might want to do other things than reading but I don’t.
And yes, maybe we are not the kids that always go to parties and everything but that’s because we prefer diving in the story and probably living something far better through a book. I really don’t understand why people say that you have no life if you read… They don’t realize that for me, it’s the kind of life I want to live in.
I know this was a short discussion, but right now I’m really busy with school and all. I want to also apologize that I’m not posting regularly anymore. Hopefully, next week I could start again
I’ve been reading fanfics all morning and I just literally said to myself “I need a life.” Of course, this was said a joke. Fanfics are my life and reading is everything to me. So I do believe people who read have a life and we live many at that. Great post 😊

I hear this all the time and it drives me nuts! I’ve had this conversation twice in the last six months and the first one was with a gamer guy and I had him try to explain why gaming meant “having a life” and why reading didn’t. The second conversation I had was with a friend who likes to go out drinking and dancing, it baffles me that because I don’t like getting wasted and dealing with hangovers and embarrassing memories, I’m the boring one.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Honestly, I think those who say that bookworms need to get a life are just mean. Everyone has their own way of living. It’s like being a king, and then you tell your subjects to “Live a little” when they can’t because they don’t have the luxury, the means, or they just don’t want to.
It’s a matter of opinion, and it is true that we live in a lot of worlds at the same time because of the different books we read. ❤

All of my friends carry on that I read so much – but I only read in my down time: on the train/tram, waiting for friends, or meetings to start. Killing the rest of my lunch hour, and I read to wind down from my day in bed (usually about an hour) On average that’s about 1-2 books a week. So I make no sacrifices of life to read – it’s something I do to compliment my life and enrich it further. What better way to kill the time the journey takes to get to the mountain hike trail, or to the beach, or in a taxi to meet friends for dinner…
Reading for me is much for fulfilling than staring at my phone feed hours on end to no avail.

People can be real jerks… I think they just want attention!
I do admit it’s hard to find the time for everything sometimes, and I do get so immersed in books that I might end up shutting myself completely to everything and everyone else. But passions do that, and passions give life meaning.
So, in a way, we’re actually living life 😉

I read books but I also work and party occasionally and spend time with my family. I actually think I don’t spend much time reading but my friends don’t get that. And it’s not my fault I enjoy reading at home more than going out on Saturdays.

What you said about reading because you love it resonates with me. Unfortunately there are things in life we don’t necessarily love but are helpful to do (like chores, which I am putting off right now…), but I do think we should make time for the things we love, the people we love, what we are passionate about. It would be a sad thing to spend our life not doing so!
