Talk about responsibility…

So, it has been more than a year since I last posted something on my blog and I am truly sorry about that. I do not have any excuse for not keeping my blog updated for this long except that I got a huge reading slump. And by huge, I mean I got it for about a year and a half. A week ago, I started reading again and I cannot express how much I relieved and happy about that. In short, I will be posting more regularly again and hopefully, reading slumps are behind me.

Just if some of you guys want to know, Beauty and the Beast movie made me want to read again after this long time. Something about watching Belle get so stunned by the library made me want to read again. And for that I am grateful.

What was your longest reading slump? And how did you get out of it?

Hi There!

My favorite covers!

Today, I’m going to talk about my favorite covers!

I am not judging those books by their content but by their covers so it might be a super boring book but they will make the list.

So shall we begin?

1. A thousand nights

Image result for a thousand nights

Honestly, this book wasn’t really for me but its cover is so gorgeous. The cover just gives the book some mystery and basically, it is so gorgeous.

2. Magonia

Image result for magonia

I actually DNF Magonia at around a 130 pages so I didn’t like it. I think that the biggest issue I had is the main character. I just could’t get into it because I couldn’t relate to the character at all.

3. Vault of dreams

Image result for vault of dreams luke taylor

I mean, look at his cover. Doesn’t it just say “Read me”! This book is amazing and you guys should read it!!!

4. Cruel Beauty

Image result for cruel beauty

I read Cruel beauty last month and it wasn’t really what I expected it to be, but it was still really nice to read and I surprisingly really liked it. And also look at this cover, isn’t it gorgeous?

5. Six of crows

Six of crows is not only one of my favorite series of all time, but the covers are so beautiful that it just takes my breathe away. I haven’t read the sequel yet but I am going to…soon.

What are your favorite covers?

Born into a royal family, it was quickly discovered that she bore the Jezdah mark — an intricate tattoo meant to identify the Children of the Elements. To make sure his people never knew about the danger that hid in their midst, the king had his daughter sent to the leader of the Cannon, his order of assassins, where she would learn to become one of them.
No one was ever supposed to know what Aerietta was, where she came from, or what she was destined to become. She’s never worried what would happen if someone discovered her secrets. But when a neighboring kingdom attacks, and Aerietta is betrayed and captured, keeping her secret will mean the difference between life and death.
When the king of the neighboring land enlists her services to track down one of her traitor companions, she has no choice but to accept. But in order to find her former friend and make it back to the king with her head still attached to her shoulders, she’ll have to keep the enigmatic, inhuman Swordmaster in the dark, which proves to be more difficult than she could ever imagine.
Deception abounds, danger is just as prevalent, but even in this world of demons and magic, the only thing Aerietta fears is herself.
The Queen of Crimson accepts.

Synopsis of The Swordmaster:

And right now I’m at 221 followers! I have no words to express how grateful I am to all of you. Really, if I could I would hug all of you (but since you guys are all over the world, that would be kind of hard).

Ever since I joined the bookish community, I didn’t regret anything. Sure, it isn’t absolutely perfect but it is like my second family and I love it so much. And frankly, I’m super proud of reaching 200 followers!!

Book series I need to get back into| My unfinished series

Series I need to finish

I have so many book series that I started, but I only finished a few of them.

I know, I know, I really should work on finishing those series before starting others. It’s just a bad habit of mine that I plan to overthrow.  So today, I’m going to be mentioning book series I need to finish so that it will motivate me to finish them. And the worst part is that there are some of these series that I absolutely love! So I NEED to finish them ASAP!!

These are the series that the next book (or next two books) are out but I didn’t read them yet.

Here is my list:

Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

I started this series at the beginning of the year and so far, I only read the two first books. I have no reason why I didn’t finish it. I have to pick up Cress!!! I heard so many good things about it and can’t wait to dive back into this world.

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

Again, I have no excuse for not continuing this series. I only read the first book and I honestly don’t know why I didn’t pick up the next book immediately. Sometimes I wonder why I do certain things (illogical things) and this is one of the moments I ask myself why would I do such a thing to myself. Joke aside, I really want to finish this series. I heard so many good things about the rest of the series. So I need to finish it as soon as possible.

Falling Kingdoms series by Morgan Rhodes

So for this one, I have an excuse why I didn’t finish it. It’s because I can’t find th
e next book anywhere!!! I read the first two books and I absolutely fell in love with them, but every time I go to the store to buy the third book, it’s not there!!! I have to look a little more because I really really want the next book!!!

Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan

I’m currently reading the fourth book in this series so it won’t be long until I finish it. I started reading this series last week and I can’t begin to express how much I love it. It will probably be the first series on my list to be finished! Love it so much!!!!!

The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

To be honest, I don’t know if I will be continuing this series. Please don’t hate me, this is my personal opinion. I didn’t particularly love the 5th wave because I didn’t like the characters that much, but I really appreciated the plot. Although, I don’t feel like reading the second book.

Red Rising series by Pierce Brown

If you read my latest posts, you would know that I just finished reading Red Rising a week ago and that I absolutely adored it! Seriously, if you haven’t read it yet, you totally should. And you have to be patient at the beginning because there is a lot of world-building but once the action starts, you’ll be asking for more. Anyways, ever since I finished Red Rising, I wanted to read the sequel!!!!!

Legend series by Marie Lu

With the ending of Prodigy, I feel like I don’t even have to explain why I want to read the next one…

The Young Elites by Marie Lu

I really need to finish Marie Lu’s series!!!!

The Kiss of Deception by Mary. E Pearson

With the plot-twist that happened in the first book, I need to know what happens next! I just have to!! Although, I want to re-read the first book before reading the second one. And with the third one coming out (or already out?), I could totally marathon this series!

Here are the series I haven’t finish! What about you? How many series have you not finish?

Hi There!

Authors You Are Waiting on Another Book From| Top 5 Wednesday

Authors You Are Waiting on Another Book From

Today is Wednesday so it’s time for a “Top 5 Wednesday”!

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme a weekly meme created by gingerreadslainey and hosted by Sam @ThoughtsOnTomes! This week’s topic is “Authors You Are Waiting on Another Book From”. So basically, it’s some authors that you haven’t heard from in a while and you want them to go back to publishing books!

Here is my list:

Rainbow Rowell

Now, I might not be the first person who mentioned her, but I just miss her writing so much. I love her books so much and whenever I hear she is writing a book, I’m going to buy it immediately (well, when it comes out). I just secretly hope she’s writing something and don’t want to make it public yet…*fingers crossed*

Stephanie Perkins

A lot of you guys may know that I loved her series “Anna and the french kiss”. She always knew how to write a warm contemporary that makes you want more and more. I will forever buy any books she writes because her books stole my heart and I want more! I just miss her writing terribly and want another book of hers…please?

Jandy Nelson

Jandy Nelson is one of my favorite authors ever since I read “I’ll give you the sun”. Seriously, if you haven’t read it yet, please do because her writing is so good. Good doesn’t even begin so do yourself a favor and go read it!!! But ever since her book came out, there has been nothing else. Like the others on my list, I would buy any books she publishes because this is how much I love her writing.

John Green

Now, there has been rumors about how John Green has been working on something, but the details are really not clear. I just want a John Green’s book…really bad. Do I even need to explain why he’s such an amazing writer?

Suzanne Collins

Remember the epic series that was the hunger games? Well, most people will tell you how that story was genius (including me) but ever since the series finished, there has been no more books written by her. I’m just really curious what her next books are going to be about. Of course, I’ll also go buy it immediately.

Hi There!

Best book to movie adaptations in my opinion!

Book to movie adaptations

Today’s post is going to be about book to movie adaptations!!! As many of you know, nowadays a lot of books are being turned into movies. And sometimes, we get an awful movie that makes us all go “But…in the book…they ruined it”, but other times, we leave the theater with tears of joy and we end up watching the movie again and again. Today I’m going to be mentioning some of my favorite movies that were based on books.

Here is my list:

Harry Potter

Do I even have to explain this one? I never met anyone who read the harry potter’s books and didn’t like the movies. Sure, they are not perfect (because perfect would mean it included every single detail), but it is very close to perfection. I just…I’ll always love Harry Potter! Always.

Me before you

When I first watched the movie trailer, I immediately read the book right after that and wow, it was epic! And the movie! I couldn’t stop giggling and  all the emotions that I had while reading the book came back! Such a lovely book to movie adaptation!! And the actors!!!! They are the best actors fit for the roles.

The book thief

I absolutely loved the book and couldn’t wait to see the movie when it was announced to be on screen. And I was not disappointed at all. I have no words at how well-done the movie was. The messages in the book are expressed loud and clear in the movie.

The Hunger Games

The hunger games is a story that I’ll never forget. I loved the books and I loved the movies too (especially the second one).

For this one, I only thought that Divergent, the first one only was really good. To be honest, I didn’t like the second and the third one (books or movies). So for this list, it’s only the first movie.

Even though there is a lot of hate surrounding this book, I just can’t stop loving it. This saga has kept me entertained for a long time and no one’s opinion is going to change that fact. The movies were so good and made me want to read the books all over again.

The Fault in our stars

I’m not even going to explain why I love this so much. *Cries in a corner*

Here is my list! What are YOUR favorite book-to-movie adaptations? Comment below!

Hi There!

Books that made it past the Second Book Syndrome| My favorite sequels!

Today, we are going to be discussing about a serious issue in the young adult world of books!

As you may know, a lot of books in the YA genre are trilogies or more and it is very rare to have standalones. Now, I’m not complaining about not having standalones because to be honest, I love series. It enables the characters to grow up and you get to be with them longer, but the issue I want to talk about here is THE SECOND BOOK SYNDROME!!!!!!!!!

The second book syndrome is when someone is reading a series with three books or more and they absolutely LOVED the first book, but somehow the second book just let them down.

The main reason why most second books disappoint us:

We expect too much. Since we absolutely loved the first book, we have certain expectations for the next one and when it isn’t as good as we thought it, it just disappoints us.

Here is a list of my favorite sequels:

*This list is in no particular order*

1. Catching Fire (The Hunger Games series)

I absolutely loved the first book in this series, but I have to admit that the second book is my absolute favorite in the whole series. With Katniss’s and Peeta’s relationship already going and the apparition of Finnick. What can a girl more in a second book? But seriously, it was so action-packed and amazingly good.

2. P.s. I still love you (To all the boys I’ve loved before series)

Like Catching Fire, I loved the first book but the second book was better in my opinion. I loved how in this book Peter and Lara Jean were doing everything for real now and not just acting in front of everybody. I’m so excited for the third book!!!!

3. Scarlet (The Lunar Chronicles)

So to be honest (I might get a lot of hate for this), I didn’t love Cinder. I didn’t hate it either. I just didn’t know why there were so much hype around this series and Cinder kind of disappointed me. But I continued the series and have to say that Scarlet was so much better than the first one. Unfortunately, I haven’t read the rest of the series yet, but I’ll get to it soon.

4. A COURT OF MIST AND FURY!!!!! (A court of thorns and roses series)

What? Did you think I would forget my baby for this list? I’ve been talking about this book ever since I read it and I’m so not ashamed. This is one of the best books I have ever read, ever!! Sarah J. Maas is amazing. I think I have mentioned that in like practically most of my posts, but I just love her work so much. ALSO, ACOTAR IS MY FAVORITE SEUQLE OF ALL TIME!!!!!

5. Crown of Midnight (Throne of glass series)

Again, not ashamed!! Seriously, I love Sarah J. Maas. You guys must be so tired of all my posts about her series, but READ THEM!!!!! Throne of Glass was really good but Crown of Midnight went over the roof! I did not expect that the story would expand to so much more. After this book, the possibilities of what might happen just opened up. Fantastic!

6. Prodigy (Legend series)

I wasn’t absolutely in love of the first book because I didn’t really like June. But in this book, OH GOD!! I SHIP THIS SO MUCH!!!! Not only that, this book was action-packed. I never got bored and read it in a single sitting!! Can’t wait to read the last one but I’m also scare of finishing this series.

So here are my favorite sequels that didn’t suffer of the second book syndrome!

What are yours? Have you read any of those and what did you think about it?
